You have to feel sorry for Red Hat and their community offering these days. Only a few weeks ago the web was littered with icon link backs to Ubuntu’s site reveling in the fact that Hardy Heron was to be released. Virtually nowhere, apart from Distrowatch would you see that the once mighty Fedora was working through the beta stages of its latest offering.

However, the fact remains that Fedora 9 has now hit the servers. This venerable Gnome based distro has been at the forefront of linux innovation for many years and this version should be no different. Designed more for the more intermediate linux user, Fedora 9 comes feature complete with Gnome 2.22, a revamped Network Manager 0.7 for better and more reliable mobile surfing, Firefox 3, OpenOffice.org 2.4 amongst other refinements all sitting nicely on an Ext4 filesystem.

You can also get the KDE version complete with KDE 4.0.3 as standard and an Xfce 4.4.2 release as well.
